GT Foundation, an organization undertaking philanthropic activities recently organized a cultural event “Tejo Diya 2010” on December 10th at Town Hall, Mangalore in honor of Dr. Vasundhara Doraswamy a torch bearer of the Padanallur tradition of Bharatha Natyam, a venerable guru of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga and an exponent of martial arts like Tangta and Kalarippayattu. The occasion marked her entry into the 25th year of her journey in preserving, promoting and propagating Indian classical culture and heritage. Mr. Jayaram Bhat, Managing Director cum Chief Executive Officer of Karnataka Bank, Mrs. Swati, Gen. Manager of Corporation Bank, Dr. C. R. Kamath, one of the renowned eye specialists were the chief guests of the functions along with the Trustees of the Foundation comprising of Dr. V. Ravichandran, Mrs. Indira Ravichandran and Mrs. Vidya Ravichandran.

The cultural event was co-sponsored by The Corporation Bank, The Indian Overseas Bank and The Karnataka Bank. During the event, the trustees of the GT Foundation donated a Braille Typewriting Machine and two other Softwares to the Roman and Catherine Lobo School for the Blind, located at Kotekani, Mangalore. The Typewriting machine and the software’s were handed over to Dr. U. V. Shenoy, Managing Trustee of the School. This School is one of the projects of Seva Bharathi Charitable Trust promoted by a group of social workers.
